The guy I've been getting my tryes from for the last 15 years has
retired (Pete, Sones Tyres). So I need a new purveyor of quality round
black things at competitive prices. Preferably one who doesn't employ
rim-scratching, tyre-fitting-backwards monkeys (like Watlings).

Any suggestions?

If you want a front wheel with 75 grammes of weights on that shakes like
a *******, then yes. I took the shaky bike to my local tyre fitter, who
declared it fine after spinning it up on the balancing machine with no
weights on at all. He was right too.

I'd buy tyres from them because they are cheap, but I'd get them fitted
elsewhere IIWY.

My AP Racing discs were so worn and ran so far out that they scored the
inner surface of the calipers. There ain't much clearance in there.

They're good for price and seem competent - just don't expect to spark
up any witty banter with the guvnor.

Alma Road Tyres, Alma Road, Sidcup. Opposite the Alma pub.

Small lock up, does a "cash" deal, will fit your own tyres for around a
fiver or so.

Cheers for that. What a sad bit of news - he was damn good.

And I was just about to get a new pair of BT45s too.

Aye, I've had a few sets from them. Quick, reliable and cheap, and they
don't seem keen on Tokico 6-pots, iyswim ;)
